SELF-HELP AUTOMATED REPORTING AND EVALUATION SYSTEM
SHARES is a web-based software application provided by USDA, Rural Development to manage, track, and evaluate the status of grants in the Self-Help Housing Section 523 Grant Program. It also helps Rural Development to track the total stats for the program nationwide, which, in turn, is valuable in advocating for federal funding. So please, do your best to keep it up to date! USDA, RD makes your SHARES data available to all parties who assist with this program.
This information page is to help Self-Help Housing grantees to access SHARES and E-Forms. Be sure to check this page periodically for updated or additional information. Please contact your Self-Help Housing Specialist to request additional topics for this information page.
WHO UPDATES SHARES?
When a new grantee is first approved, NeighborGood Partners, the regional contractor, sends a request to RD to add the new grantee into SHARES. Once RD confirms the new grantee is added, the regional contractor adds the new grant into SHARES and notifies the grantee that their grant is available for adding their data. We ask all grantees to have their SHARES information updated by the 5th of each month. This will ensure the numbers are accurately included in the monthly reports sent to RD. Any grantees doing Purchase/Repair should, at a minimum, input their 502 loan information into SHARES.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR A USDA eAUTHENTICATION LEVEL 2 ACCOUNT
A USDA Level 2 SHARES account is required to access SHARES and E-Forms. If you don’t already have a SHARES account, you will need to visit the USDA eAuthentication logon page and select Create Account. Enter all required information and respond to any questions to complete your SHARES account registration and your identity verification.
There is no longer a requirement to visit the USDA state office with proof of identity to receive SHARES Level 2 access. RD has updated this process to be completed online. The identity verification process consists of a series of questions about yourself that you must answer correctly to be verified. Be sure to click on the Verify Identity icon when creating your account so that you will be verified and ready to request SHARES Level 2 access. When your identity is verified, you will see a check mark in front of the Verified Identity icon.
If you already have a SHARES account but are not sure if you are verified or have Level 2 access, you can find out by viewing your SHARES account information. Click here to find out how to View Your SHARES Account Information.
Once you have created your account and successfully verified your identity, you will need to request your Level 2 access role to be able to enter your information into SHARES and to access E-Forms. Please send your request via email, along with your SHARES account User ID, to Phyllis Rosica (prosica@neighborgoodpartners.org). NeighborGood Partners will create and submit a SHARES Access Request form on your behalf to secure your access role. It may take up to a week for your access role to be assigned and appear in your SHARES account information.

HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR SHARES AND E-FORMS ACCESS ROLE
Once you have your new SHARES account set up and verified, contact the Region III SHARES support person at NeighborGood Partners, and let them know you are ready to obtain your SHARES access role. You will need to provide your SHARES account User ID to them. NeighborGood Partners will create and submit your access role request to USDA, Rural Development.
